My Spin

(Just my opinion. Give us yours!)

"I Need Your Love Tonight" is an infectious up-tempo rocker recorded when he was on leave from the army in June 1958. Elvis clearly enjoys himself, letting out an emphatic "Yeah!" at the opening riff of Hank Garland's rousing guitar solo, and shouts the title line before Hank lets loose again. Both men must know they are making magic!

I'll write more later, but meanwhile, check out the music and links!

Other Spins

(What did the critics and fans say?)

"I Need Your Love Tonight" is another classic rocker. It is fast, but not frenetic, with Presley's voice little short of amazing; all the earlier qualities are there, and most importantly his control of vocal technique. Hank Garland's surging guitar work is especially fine.

Robert Matthew-Walker, Elvis Presley: A Study in Music, 1979

Nicely arranged and presented pop song with high beat from the early RCA days.

Martin Torgoff, The Complete Elvis, 1982

"I Need Your Love Tonight" Lyrics and Downloads

Oh, oh, I love you so
Uh, uh, can't let you go
Ooh, ooh, don't tell me no
I need your love tonight

Oh, gee, the way you kiss
Sweetie, too good to miss
Wow-whee, I want more of this
I need your love tonight

I've been waiting just for tonight
To do some lovin' and hold you tight
Don't tell me baby you gotta go
I got the hi-fi high and the lights down low

Hey, now, hear what I say
Oh, wow, you better stay
Pow, pow, don't run away
I need your love tonight
