My Spin

(Just my opinion. Give us yours!)

Teddy Redell's minor hit "Judy" fits nicely with Elvis' early-'60s style, medium-tempo boogie rhythm and Elvis exercising his baritone, taking it from the depths ("somebody new") up to the heights ("let our sweet love"). It fits nicely on the "rhythm side" of Something For Everybody, too!

I'll write some more later, promise, meanwhile dig the videos, music and links.

Other Spins

(What did the critics and fans say?)

Poor balancing spoils "Judy", where the guitar never stops, and is so far forward that it overshadows the song. It is difficult to hear Presley while this clatter is going on just behind him.

Robert Matthew-Walker, Elvis Presley: A Study in Music, 1979

Silky-smooth ballad with a sweeping feeling.

Martin Torgoff, The Complete Elvis, 1982

"Judy" Lyrics and Downloads

They say you found somebody new
Whose love will always be true
I don't know what it is to be alone
That's why I dread to know you're gone

Oh Judy, don't let our sweet love
Wither and die like flowers in the fall
Oh Judy, don't you know it's you
I love most of all

Oh, please come back I promise always to be true
Oh Judy, there'll never be anyone else dear but you

Oh, please come back I promise always to be true
Oh Judy, there'll never be anyone else dear but you
