My Spin

(Just my opinion. Give us yours!)

with Vicky Tiu
in It Happened At The World's Fair
This Don Robertson ballad brings some class to the soundtrack of It Happened At The World's Fair. The instrumentation is soft, mostly piano and bass, with gentle backing by the Jordanaires. It's an obvious choice as the flip-side of the single, and could've been a fine A-side!

I'll add some more later, but meanwhile check out the music and links.

Other Spins

(What did the critics and fans say?)

Presley's singing is good in..."They Remind Me Too Much of You". Again, the song does not quite make it; but with a fine piano contribution and Presley's superb phrasing the result is an object lesson to ballad singers.

Robert Matthew-Walker, Elvis Presley: A Study in Music, 1979

Cramer piano provides lazy mood as Elvis sings straight through like a breath of fresh air.

Martin Torgoff, The Complete Elvis, 1982

"They Remind Me Too Much of You" Lyrics and Downloads

Take away the scent of flowers
Cover up the sky of blue
Close my ears to tender love songs
They remind me too much of you

Hide young lovers' warm embraces
Keep stars and moonlight from my view
Let me forget there are such places
They remind me too much of you

Must I ever more be haunted
Day after day, my whole life through
By the memory of each moment
That I spent alone with you

If these lovely things don't hurt you
Our love just wasn't meant to be
But please come back to me, my darling
If they remind you too much of me
