"Hurt" was one of Elvis' last truly great vocal moments, and one that seemed to sum up the public's image of what he was feeling at the time, especially now with the benefit of hindsight, and with the benefit of our overly-dramatic imaginations! :) Perhaps Elvis wasn't truly as hurt as he sounds in this song, but if not, he sure put on a good show! More to come later, meanwhile, check out the music, videos and links! |
Other Spins(What did the critics and fans say?)Presley's singing was consistent in these sessions, and in "Hurt" his voice is heard at its most startling. But the song is dated, and the accompaniment crude. I'm so hurt to think that you lied to me I'm hurt way down deep inside of me You said our love was true And we'll never, never part Now you've got someone new And it breaks my heart I'm hurt, much more than you'll ever know Yes darling, I'm so hurt Because I still love you so Even though you hurt me Like nobody else could ever do I would never hurt, hurt you |
