The ballad "I'm Yours" was originally recorded in 1961 and included on Elvis' 1962 album Pot Luck. Three years later, it was resurrected for the soundtrack of Tickle Me and released as a single, making it to the top of the Easy Listening chart and into the Top 20 on the Pop chart. The original album version has Elvis harmonizing with himself on an overdub vocal, along with a spoken part in the middle. The later single version leaves out both of these. As with most of his ballads from the early '60s, Elvis delivers the goods on this recording, and he's in fine voice. The album version with his overdubbed harmony is especially appealing. Other Spins(What did the critics and fans say?)"I'm Yours" is outstanding; a slow arrangement of this fine song. Floyd Cramer, this time on organ, adds a superb part. Robert Matthew-Walker, Elvis Presley: A Study in Music, 1979 Similar to "Ask Me", but without the Jordanaires, this was an unusually slow, straight-from-the-heart love song. Martin Torgoff, The Complete Elvis, 1982 Check out other Elvis fans' opinions on the Elvis News page for I'm Yours Check out other opinions at Rate Your Music "I'm Yours" Links

My love I offer you now My heart and all it can give For just as long as I live I'm yours No arms but yours dear will do My lips will always be true My eyes can see only you, I'm yours And as the years roll along Your joy and tears I'll gladly share And when things go wrong dear Just hold out your hand and I'll be there With every beat of my heart With every breath that I take Now and forever, sweetheart, I'm yours |
