Elvis' version of "Take Good Care Of Her" is as decent as anyone else's, but it's always been a rather mediocre country tune to me, and not really the best choice to lead off the Good Times album. Or maybe it's just because I think the flip side of this single deserves all the attention. :) More to come later, meanwhile, check out the music and links! |
Other Spins(What did the critics and fans say?)[Pianist Bobby Wood] begins "Take Good Care Of Her", on which strings (or possibly synthesizer) were over-dubbed. Kathy Westmoreland sings a later verse well. Robert Matthew-Walker, Elvis Presley: A Study in Music, 1979 Well sung, medium tempo, C&W ballad with full instrumental backing (which was later stripped away to reveal Elvis' voice). Take good care of her, take good care of her I suppose I ought to say congratulations For you won the only girl I ever loved But I hurt too much to face the situation Just take good care of her, take good care of her Just to be around her was my greatest pleasure She was everything my future held in store So remember when you take my only treasure Just take good care of her, take good care of her I must accept it, she loves you more than me So with my broken heart I'll bow out gracefully Please don't send me any wedding invitation For I couldn't bear to see her there with you If she's happy, that will be my consolation Just take good care of her, take good care of her Take good care of her, take good care of her |
