I'm sure you've already heard about Elvis' "cultural importance". Yeah, yeah, that's nice, but c'mon, Elvis was a singer! Let's talk about the songs!

Elvis recorded around 800 songs over the span of almost 25 years. Even the most die-hard fan must admit that the songs, shall we say, uh, varied in quality! There's no objective gauge for these things, although I think we can all agree that "Jailhouse Rock" is a few notches above "Yoga Is As Yoga Does"! ...and the songs we don't agree on... well, that's where the fun begins!

I've got a long list of songs to write about, so I'm starting with the songs that were released as singles, going alphabetically, and I'll fill in the rest later. Be patient with me. This ought to take a lifetime or two!
