An excellent example of Elvis' early-'60s ballad crooning, "That's Someone You Never Forget" started off as just an idea Elvis had for a song title, and shared with Red West. Legend has it that it's a tribute to his mother Gladys, but we'll never know. In any case, Red's final composition was a gentle but dramatic ballad, brought to life by Elvis and the Jordanaires piling on the vocals, each line building to a mini-crescendo. The vocal theatrics are subtle, though, and handled with precision and care, resulting in a fine recording, and a fitting finale to the Pot Luck album.
